Last week, I was in Buffalo for a presentation at the Western New York Library Resources Council. I spoke about open source software for libraries. It was nice to visit another regional library system and see all of the great things they’re doing.
Everyone seemed to be pretty enthusiastic about the idea of open source. I tried an experiment and put some open source applications from Portable Apps on CDs and let the attendees try them out during the talk. It worked really well and they got to take the CDs with them.
