I spent Friday at the Academic Library Association of Ohio’s Annual Conference. I was invited to sit on a panel with Chad Boeninger, Linda Dobb, and Brian Gray. We answered audience questions inspired from Joe Janes‘ earlier keynote. Joe is a great speaker and I think the panelists handled the questions well. I also presented a session called Integrating Web 2.0 Tools into Your Web Site. The room was packed and it was nice to see so many people interested in embedding social tools on their sites.
ALAO ended a busy month of events and presentations. October always has lots of library conferences and I tend to hit most of them. I used the busy schedule as an opportunity to try out Google’s new presentation software. After five presentations with it, I think I’m happy. I’ve been using Eric Meyer’s S5 for the past few years and it has served me well. Google Docs, however, allows me to publish the presentation and make it available without having to jump through hoops and find a place to host it. I’ve heard of people having some glitches with their presentations, but I’ve had no problems. I’d like to be able to customize the themes, but I’m sure that is coming as a future enhancement.
